Creating Young Minds Youth Mentoring Program

Mentoring can help youth discuss challenging topics, discover solutions, build confidence, grow as a person, learn new skills, and much more.

Individual and Small Group Sessions

Weekly and Monthly programs available

30-minute and 60-minute sessions available

$45 per 30-minute session with initial complimentary meeting to determine if it’s a good fit for the individual and the program.

$75 per 60-minute session.

Mentoring sessions with Dr. Shira A Ackerman and Mathis Crowder

Dr. Shira A. Ackerman has her Ph.D. in Applied Behavior Analysis from Columbia University, ten years of experience in the field of Behavior Analysis, and twenty-plus years of experience as an Educator (Preschool through Graduate School; Special Education, General Education, University Level). Dr. Ackerman is the Co-Founder & CEO for Creating Young Minds and the CYM Undiscovered League. She works with the families of all the young men, monitors their education both in high school and college, and has built relationships with community members in the Dallas Fort Worth area, as well as with many college coaches and NBA/GLeague/NBL Executives. Dr. Ackerman uses her academic expertise to help the young men in the program grow and develop on and off the court. She monitors their academics, tutors them, communicates with high schools, and supervises the young men attending the year-round academy.

Mathis Crowder, the co-founder of CYM, specializes in maximizing players potential physically, and mentally on the court. His advanced training techniques have helped many CYM alumni go from overlooked recruit to bonafide college and Professional athlete. Mathis Crowder spent 11 years as a Physical Therapy Assistant and has 20+ years’ experience as a basketball coach for young men and women between the ages of 11 and 30. He has a gift for developing the heart, mind and body of every young man he has the opportunity to coach. Mathis Crowder is respected in the basketball community as someone who can develop talent for all positions.
